Iuliana Chilea

As the General Director of the Romanian standardization body - ASRO since 2017, Mrs. Chilea has been actively involved in the standardization activity for over 15 years, at both national and European levels.

Her professional journey has included engaging in technical and management structures of the European Standardization Organizations - CEN and CENELEC - where she led various working groups focusing on developing and reshaping the European standardization processes. In 2019, she has been elected as a member of the CENELEC Board and beginning with 2024 she serves as a member of CEN Board.

Representing Romania, Iuliana Chilea is a nominated member of the Committee on Standards managed by DG GROW in the European Commission. She contributed to various EU led projects, as senior expert or project manager, dedicated to strengthening the position of national standardization organizations in neighbouring countries and supporting the development of single market related areas.

Iuliana Chilea has a bachelor’s degree in laws and holds a master in EU law from the Bucharest University. In 2022, she started her PhD studies with a final thesis on the innovative capabilities of standardization in shaping a sustainable world.
